Dental Exams and Cleanings

To maintain strong oral health, it is important to have a good oral hygiene routine at home and schedule regular exams and cleanings. Exams and cleanings are essential to maintaining oral hygiene. During your dental cleaning, your dental hygienist will remove plaque and build-up (calculus) on the teeth. Removing plaque and calculus will help prevent tooth decay, which can cause a host of other problems if it is not prevented. After your cleaning, your doctor will examine your teeth and gums for regularities and irregularities. Not only will you leave with a clean mouth, but you will become better informed on how to maintain a healthy smile.

Digital Dental X-rays

Digital Dental X-rays are diagnostic tools used to find oral damage and disease. X-rays allow our Clinical Team to see what is invisible to the eye during an exam. These digital X-rays are one of the most innovative and technologically advanced ways to diagnose and determine your state of oral health. They are safer (less radiation), faster, and more effective in determining the state of the structures of your mouth (teeth, gums, and bone) compared to traditional X-rays.

Preventative Treatments

Preventative treatments include anything that is intended to help you avoid dental complications. Regular dental exams, cleanings, and X-rays are all highly effective in detecting problems early. Ligocki Dental Group also offers sealants and fluoride treatments to prevent tooth decay.

Tooth decay is caused by plaque and food particles. Sealants help protect the deep grooves in the teeth from tooth decay. A sealant is a thin coating that is painted on the surface of the tooth. The grooves of the teeth are especially susceptible to tooth decay, so sealants offer a barrier. Fluoride treatments also prevent tooth decay by making the mouth more resistant to acid. Fluoride can be applied topically or as a mouth rinse.

Orthodontic treatment

Orthodontic treatment is a specialty in dentistry that involves the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of jaw, face, and tooth irregularities. Common orthodontic problems include overbite, underbite, overcrowding of teeth, and dissatisfaction with aesthetic appearance. Some solutions include braces, retainers, or Invisalign. Contact Ligocki Dental Group to help find an orthodontic treatment that suits your needs.

Periodontal Disease

Periodontitis is a bacterial infection that damages, and if left untreated, destroys the soft tissue and bone supporting the teeth. Gingivitis is a mild form of periodontitis in which only the gum tissue is involved. Without proper care, gingivitis can progress into a more severe form (periodontitis) and affect the bone as well. Gum disease usually starts as a result of poor oral hygiene. Improper or irregular brushing and flossing will allow bacteria to collect below the gum line. Smoking also contributes to a poor oral environment and accelerates the spread of bacteria in the mouth.

Teeth Extractions

Patients come in for teeth extractions for a variety of reasons, such as infection, tooth decay, preparation for orthodontic treatment, and wisdom teeth. A decayed tooth may need to be removed because it is too damaged to be fixed by any other means. An infected tooth will eventually cause problems to neighboring teeth and should be removed.

TMJ Disorder Treatment

A TMJ disorder is characterized by jaw pain, clicking, popping, or locking during jaw movement, limited motion, headaches, grinding teeth, and ringing in the ears. Severities of symptoms vary from patient to patient. Our Clinical Team at Ligocki Dental Group will test, diagnose, and determine what treatment is best suited to your needs. A TMJ disorder can cause moderate to severe pain. There are several treatments that can be performed prior to surgery. Retainers, transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS), trigger-point injections, radio wave therapy, and ultrasound therapy have all been proven to be very successful treatments for TMJ disorder.

Root Canals

The inside of all teeth are filled with a material called dental pulp. The pulp has nerves, blood vessels and connective tissue. The pulp fills the tooth from the top (crown) all the way down to the bone. When a tooth is damaged, bacteria can enter the pulp and cause serious infection or an abscess. If left untreated, the pulp can be irreversibly damaged, leading to loss of the tooth. If you experience swelling of your face and neck, toothache, gum swelling, and severe sensitivity to temperature, call Ligocki Dental Group immediately. We understand the frustration associated with toothache and makes sure that you will be seen as soon as possible.
